About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated individual to join our support team at Aberporth School.

A learning support assistant plays a key role in supporting primary pupils of all ages, including those with learning difficulties.

The role involves assisting the class teacher with learning activities, providing one-to-one or small group support, and implementing intervention programmes as part of the school's universal provision.

The assistant is expected to promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that supports pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

Main Responsibilities:
  • upport primary pupils of all ages in the classroom, including those with learning difficulties
  • work under the direction of the class teacher to assist with learning and development activities
  • provide individual or small group support to improve understanding and progress
  • assist with implementing intervention programmes as part of the school's universal provision
  • monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
  • support pupils' social and emotional development in a safe and inclusive environment
  • prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation
  • ensure safeguarding and health and safety policies are followed at all times

    Essential Skills and Experience:
    • experience working with children with additional needs
    • strong communication skills and a positive attitude
    • the ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the classroom

    Desirable:
    • understanding of the diverse needs of pupils, including those with learning difficulties
    • experience in providing learning support or interventions (advantageous)
    • level 2 qualification in Learning Support or equivalent (or willingness to work towards one).
