The Governing Body of Ysgol Pontrobert wishes to appoint an inspiring, committed and enthusiastic Headteacher. Ysgol Gynradd Pontrobert is a Welsh medium school at the heart of the rural village of Pontrobert, Montgomeryshire. Learners between the ages of 4 and 11 are taught through the medium of Welsh here. It is a school that is adapting to healthy growth in numbers, and we have recently celebrated
the centenary of its existence. We are proud of the strong links between the school and the parents, the local community and school
partners. It is a school that promotes the progression of learners' Welsh education through its positive relationship with local all age schools. It is an active and lively school in the community, offering interesting and varied experiences to the learners and setting high standards in all areas.
Ysgol Pontrobert is the happy, homely school with a strong sense of family and belonging at the center of its ethos. Placing an emphasis on well-being, the school wants to nurture learners to reach their full
potential and, through that, develop into happy, confident, bilingual citizens who appreciate the culture and language of our country. We expect an ambitious, dynamic Headteacher who shares the vision of
our school.
We want to appoint a leader who:
• Is an inspiration to learners to broaden their horizons and meet their potential, by using inclusive and accessible methods.
• Shows inspirational leadership, prioritization and management skills.
• Promotes the wellbeing of learners and staff as a solid basis for learning and progress.
• Considers a caring ethos as a priority in a school, and is able to promote effective collaboration.
• Has up-to-date knowledge of current curriculum developments, locally and nationally.
• Focuses on continuous improvement, ensuring quality and high standards
• Can demonstrate a very high standard of spoken and written Welsh and English.
• Communicates effectively with all stakeholders, placing emphasis on building positive relationships with learners, staff, parents, governors and the wider community.
• Leads and promotes the Welsh ethos of the school and the area, fostering pride in the local language and culture.
We can offer:
• A close and supportive school community with learners who are valued, who are happy and eager to learn in a Welsh school.
• Enthusiastic, experienced and committed staff who are supportive and work closely with their head.
• Professional support from the Governing Body, the local authority, and the community, which provides opportunities for continuous development.
• An attractive and pleasant working and learning environment.
