The Governing Body of Trallwng Infants School is seeking to appoint a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA – Level 4) to join our supportive and committed team. This exciting opportunity is to work in our Early Years unit alongside the class teacher to primarily support our Nursery children, providing vital support for their early development and learning.

At Trallwng Infants School, we are proud of our warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is celebrated, supported, and inspired to achieve their full potential. Our school is rooted in the local community and guided by strong values, with a friendly and warm working environment created by a supportive and hardworking team. We believe in fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence from the very beginning of a child’s educational journey. Joining our team means becoming part of a school that values collaboration, wellbeing, and a shared commitment to making every day meaningful for our children.

As part of our Early Years team, you will work closely with the class teacher to nurture a rich, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to explore, discover, and learn through play. You will help to foster a classroom atmosphere that is warm, secure, and stimulating—where children feel valued, confident, and inspired to learn.

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Be a passionate and nurturing practitioner who inspires and engages our youngest learners through imaginative, play-based experiences tailored to their developmental needs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of early childhood development and the Foundation Phase curriculum, with a strong commitment to child-led, exploratory learning.
  • Show initiative, adaptability, and a warm, proactive approach to supporting young children’s early education and care.
  • Set high standards for themselves and others, encouraging a culture of positivity, respect, and high achievement.
  • Take a leading role in planning and delivering focused learning activities, both independently and in collaboration with the class teacher.
  • Confidently oversee and support learning for small groups and individuals, responding flexibly to the needs of Nursery-aged pupils.
  • Assist in the preparation of high-quality learning environments, including resource development and classroom organisation.
  • Foster strong, supportive relationships with children, families, and staff, acting as a positive role model at all times.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and sensitively with children, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Demonstrate resilience, patience, and effective behaviour management strategies suited to the early years setting.
  • Confidently complete written observations and assessments, contributing meaningfully to tracking pupil progress and planning next steps.
  • Be enthusiastic about supporting the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, events, and community engagement.
